Do less.
No, less.
OK, good! Now do less than that.
Seriously, self-care is very important. Some (me) might (do) say it’s literally life and death. So taking that into account, try to be strategic.
What do you want?
I can guarantee that unless you’ve really pared down what you’re doing, you’re engaging in self-care busywork.
Remember worksheets? Mimeographed papers given to us in school by overwrought teachers who needed ONE FUCKING MINUTE to go pee, or grade papers, or whatever else.
They didn’t teach us anything. They didn’t help us much. They were illusions. They made other people think we were busy—parents walking by the classroom, administrators ducking their heads in, etc. And in the process of the ruse, we got fooled ourselves. We thought we were really doing some shit.
But we absolutely were not.
And if you’re just doing the busywork, you’re probably not, either.
I want this email to be short (DOING LESSSSS) so I’ll leave it here:
Spend the week thinking about what you’re doing that is lifestyle busywork.
What can you eliminate if you get brave enough? If you stop giving quuuuite so many fucks about how you’re perceived and if you’re keeping up?
Who even are the Joneses anyway? Fuck ‘em.
Go your own way.
Do less.
Feel more.
Buy less.
Enjoy more.
Schedule less.
Engage more.
Love y’all.
